The Inspiration Behind Our Name: Ode To A Cow
Scott found this great poem in The Old Farmer’s Almanac Book of Everyday Advice. The Almanac originally published the poem in their 1936 edition, citing the London News Chronicle as the source. Interestingly, the News Chronicle was founded in 1846 by one of the word’s greatest story tellers, Charles Dickens. We haven’t been able to uncover any more details, but the London News Chronicle is no more - it ceased publication in 1960 when it became part of the Daily Mail, one of Britain’s most famous tabloids.
Anyway, Scott loved the zen message of Ode to A Cow and set it to music. The song is a hit at Columbine Health Systems - Scott gets requests for it from the residents every week. And even the Old Farmer’s Almanac wanted to use it. They have the song posted on their website for kids. Most important to Scott, it makes Beth smile every time she hears it.
